Sri Majety Guravaiah Degree College is a co-educational institution, recognised by the U.G.C, New Delhi and affiliated to Acharya Nagarjuna University, Andhra Pradesh. The special and rare feature of this un-aided institution is the recognition of 2(f) and 12(B) positions by the U.G.C in 2006 to utilise the funding benefits. The college is established in the year 1994 and is located in 6/1 Brodipet, Guntur. Since the College resides in the heart of the Guntur town, its location makes the commute easy for every one. The degree college classes will be held between 9.00 a.m to 1.30 p.m only. So these timings are the most convenient to those who wants to work part-time while studying in this college.There are seven courses that are offered in total of which, B.Sc has five courses in English medium (M.P.C, M.P.Cs,M.S.Cs, M.E.Cs, M.P.E) and B.Com with two courses in English Medium (General & Computer Applications). Every year we have around 70% of pass results. In addition to the regular classes, guest lectures, special classes for Tally, M.S.Office and coaching for competitive examinations and awareness programs are offered through Career Guidance Cell. The College has Library, Laboratories and auditorium for cultural & co-curricular activities. There is one play ground in college premises and another huge play ground that is located 3 Kms from the college.
As part of co-curricular activities, training classes for games and events, parents meetings, industrial/historical tours etc., are organised as usual every year. This is the only college which achieved overall championship winner/runner cups ten in number continuously from the last six years at Acharya Nagarjuna University youth festival and state level competitions in general and also won three overall championship cups in the same academic year in particular. And N.S.S volunteers also got so many prizes in state level N.S.S youth festival and recieved Prathibha Puraskaram from the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh in the Academic Year 2017-18. Anti-ragging cell, Women empowerment cell, Discipline Committee etc., are formed by the College Administration to make every student have a smooth campus life and peaceful education. Apart from the Social Welfare scholarships, the management encourages merit and poor students by giving them financial support in the form of scholarships. There is no attached hostel facility. Under the pioneering of a galaxy of Principals, Teaching and Non-Teaching, many brilliant and merit students have come out of the portals of this institution and have occupied the various respectable positions distinguishing themselves in different fields as educationists, administrators, politicians etc.
